GPU collateral loses value faster than the loan
GPU collateral values and rental cash flows falling below the level needed to service amortizing debt on fleets financed at 2024-2026 vintage prices. A lender, rating agency, or issuer discloses default, covenant waiver, restructuring, or downgrade on a GPU-secured facility, forcing mark-downs across private credit and ABS holders.

The case against it
Older accelerator generations like A100 remain commercially relevant beyond four to five year useful-life assumptions, so depreciation charges are steeper than necessary and residual values and second-contract economics are better than models assume. Nvidia GPUs being broadly adopted, transferable between customers and operators, and life-extended by software, so third-party institutional capital willing to underwrite AI compute projects at scale, bypassing Nvidia's own balance sheet. It would show first if all rated GPU-backed deals perform to schedule with no downgrades or waivers through 2027.
