Will Chinese-made AI chips dominate new accelerator capacity in mainland China by 2027?
Export limits on advanced US chips and Beijing's push for homegrown silicon may be steering China onto its own compute stack, sidelining foreign accelerator makers.

The case for yes
US and China split into two AI markets
Export controls on advanced GPUs and state pressure to buy domestic chips succeed in redirecting China's build-out toward local designers like Huawei, Cambricon, Biren, and MetaX. Chinese companies naturally prefer domestic GPUs when foreign supply is restricted, and domestic fabs and chip designers absorb most new demand as policy barriers widen the gap. Foreign accelerators hold only marginal share of new capacity as a result.
The case for no
The case against it
Despite restrictions, a US chipmaker finds a way to keep selling compliant chips into China at meaningful scale, or major Chinese cloud firms say they still rely mainly on US-designed accelerators. Export rules could also loosen enough to allow broad licensing of current-generation GPUs into China. Any of these would mean foreign accelerators keep a real foothold rather than being pushed to the margins of China's buildout.

TSMC, monthly revenue growth from a year earlier, October 2026: whether it comes in at or above 48%.
On the Docket Pendingth046-t04Pre-specified
- Question
- Did TSMC's revenue for October 2026 grow at or above 48.0% from October 2025?
- Source
- Taiwan Stock Exchange OpenAPI, monthly revenue of listed companies (t187ap05_L)
- Rule
- Read TSMC's (2330) revenue for October 2026 in the Taiwan Stock Exchange's monthly revenue table and compare it with October 2025 in the same table. The answer is yes if revenue is up at or above 48.0%; no if it is below 48.0%.
- If the source is late, revised or silent
- If the table does not carry October 2026 by November 25, 2026, the test is inconclusive, and the Result says what was read and what was missing; a later correction of the month does not change the reading.
- Base rate
- TSMC's revenue for September 2026 was 54.6% above a year earlier, by the exchange's monthly table.
- Outside view
- A single month moves with wafer shipment timing, so one month can run well above or below the quarter's pace.
- What would change the number
- TSMC's own guidance for the quarter, given at its results, would move the number.

In The Buildout
The Parts on the same question.
The stories that take up this thesis, with their own Calls and tests.
Part 15: Oil Is the Headline. The Real Yield Is the Bill.
The barrel gave a Fed already facing hot core prices one more reason to hike, and the borrowing of the Treasury and the hyperscalers helped lift the real yield that long-dated earnings answer to. DeepStack reads the three sides, splits the 10-year on public data and names the tests, starting with the Fed's decision of October 28.
A thesis page states one question and both sides of it; DeepStack takes no side in words, and its view is the number it gives each test before the date. Analysis and opinion, not investment advice. Voices are paraphrased from public writing and attributed by name; DeepStack shows no score, ranking or accuracy for any person. Pre-specified means the words were approved on or before the test’s date. Specified after the date means they were written afterwards: such a test is counted and shown, and never rated. An open question has no words yet. The Call’s number is the chance, from 0 to 100, that the Call gives the yes answer to a test’s question, recorded before the test’s date; it is DeepStack’s own reading, not a market price and not advice. The readers’ mark on the same line is the readers’ median, the middle of the numbers signed-in readers gave the test, shown from 25 readers. The machines: Each model read this page and nothing else. The number that counts is the latest one each model gave before the test closed.
